Hey there! My name is Natalia, and I’m a 23-year-old teacher trying to live a healthy life in Chicago. I created Windy City Running Girl as a way to document my journey in running and working out, and I hope it also holds me accountable in meeting my training goals.
This is also my way to deliver fitness tricks, recipes, and fun little stories about the adventures I have in the Second City.
I’ve lived in and around Chicago my entire life, having been raised in the suburb of Vernon Hills and going to college in the city. I currently live in lovely Lincoln Park and love it. Other things I love include:
- being outdoors (this I do NOT get to do enough, unfortunately)
My relationship with fitness and health have been up and down over the years. Now that I’ve finally (almost) gotten myself to a weight that I think is healthy for my buddy, I’m really excited to venture into the world of racing. So far I’ve only completed a handful of races, but I’m excited to continue and to try for my first marathon this year!
My first race is the Long Grove Turkey Trot in 2011, and that race will always be special to me. Since then I’ve finished:
- Color Run 5K, summer 2012
- Monster Dash Half marathon, October 2012
- Hot Chocolate 15K, November 2012
- Long Grove Turkey Trot 5K, 2012
My favorite kind of races, so far, are themed races, but I’m really excited to try new kinds and distances out this year.
You can read more about the story of my weight on my Fitness History page.
